UNFI launched a company-wide donation campaign, empowering associates to contribute directly to relief efforts.

Hurricane Helene has caused catastrophic damage across the Southeastern United States, leaving many without food, shelter, or basic supplies. In response to this crisis, and ahead of Hurricane Milton making landfall this week, UNFI BB #:158953 quickly initiated a broad relief effort to bring essential resources to those in critical need.

UNFI launched a company-wide donation campaign, empowering associates to contribute directly to relief efforts. UNFI is matching employee contributions dollar-for-dollar to World Central Kitchen, an organization providing hot meals to those affected by Hurricane Helene. Additionally, UNFI is providing monetary donations to local partners that are delivering essential relief services on the ground in affected states. We will continue to work with local partners to assess how we can best support present and longer-term relief efforts.

Our Richburg, SC and Quincy, FL distribution centers and sustainable operations team have also quickly mobilized to deliver vital supplies to the hard-hit areas. Items include food, bottled water, first aid supplies, basic toiletries and personal hygiene items, diapers and baby clothes, blankets, cleaning supplies and other necessary items.

“Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by this natural disaster. Hurricane Helene has devastated our communities in the Southeast. We’re proud to deliver support in this time of dire need. The whole team has been hustling around the clock to get items packed and shipped, and into people’s hands as quickly as possible,” said Marco Huamani, General Manager at the Richburg distribution center.

Doing the right thing and supporting our communities in times of need is core to our company values and culture. Whether through in-kind donations, monetary support, or on-the-ground assistance, UNFI is committed to providing ongoing aid to communities impacted by this disaster, as well as those that may be affected by Hurricane Milton.
