From the beginning of the 2022/2023 campaign in June to March 12, Peru exported 283,000 tons of fresh blueberries, reflecting an increase of 30 percent versus in the same period the previous campaign, according to Fernando Cilloniz, president of Inform@ccion, quoted by Agraria.

Cillóniz highlighted the rapid growth and positioning of the Peruvian blueberry, which has allowed Peru to become the main world supplier of this fruit. In addition, blueberries have become Peru’s top agro-export crop, surpassing grapes in value.

He pointed out that the Peruvian blueberry campaign is becoming broader (from June to March), registering its peak in September and October.

For the next campaign (2023/2024), Peru plans to ship between 330,000 and 350,000 tons of fresh blueberries, which will allow Peru to maintain leadership as a global supplier of the fruit. In addition, it will strengthen its position as the main Peruvian export crop since it would distance itself from grapes.
