32nd Annual Competition Awards Free Toaster Oven to All Entrants
EAGLE, ID – The mythical island of Atlantis may have sunk beneath the sea forever, but its namesake Bahamas resort will offer fun in the sun for the lucky random winner of the 2023 Idaho Potato Lovers Display Contest sponsored by the Idaho Potato Commission.
“We’re super excited about this year’s sweepstakes prize – a six-day/five-night trip for two to Atlantis Paradise Island resort,” says Jamie Bowen, IPC director of marketing.
“The winner will get to splash around in the oceanside resort’s Aquaventure slides and river rides, 11 pools and 5 miles of white sand beaches. There’s also a gorgeous spa, tons of activities and excursions, and of course a variety of wonderful restaurants. Atlantis is also known for its marine life, with the largest open-air marine habitat in the world.”
The sweepstakes award package for two includes roundtrip airfare, accommodations for six days and five nights, $300 per day per couple for meals and drinks, and $1,000 for recreation and ground transportation, including taxes and gratuities. In addition, the sweepstakes winner’s category manager will also receive an Atlantis vacation package.
The luxurious sweepstakes getaway package is just part of the $150,000-plus in cash and prizes to be awarded by IPC in the 2023 display competition, now in its 32nd year. Creativity rather than size is key, says Bowen, who adds that smaller displays have the same chance of winning as larger, more elaborate displays.
“The most important thing is drawing your customers’ attention to a great product that they will love – top quality Idaho potatoes,” Bowen says. “A fun display of Idaho russets is an ideal way to generate excitement about potatoes, and it will brighten up your entire produce department during the cold, gray days of winter!”
Each retail display competition entrant will also receive a free Brentwood stainless steel toaster oven. The 4-slice oven can toast, broil and bake, with adjustable temperature ranges of 50 to 450°F, two rack positions and two heating elements. A crumb tray, food tray and wire rack are included.
The Idaho Potato Lovers Display Contest runs from Feb. 1 through April 15, 2023. To enter, build an attractive and memorable display in the produce department that incorporates fresh Idaho potatoes (bag, bulk or both) with a clear label showing the Idaho name and the “Grown in Idaho” seal, along with a clearly marked Idaho dehydrated potato product. (The display may not include potato products from other states.)
The display must also use IPC 2023 special themed point-of-sale materials: two double-sided Idaho Potato Lovers logo display signs, one large and two small double-sided signs featuring an appetizing photo, and two inflatable Mylar Idaho potato-branded balloons. For more clip art and delicious recipes, go to the Idaho potato website: idahopotato.com/retail.
Display entries can be any size but are limited to one per store. Retailers will compete with other same-size stores in one of three categories: 1-5 cash registers, 6-9 cash registers, or 10-plus cash registers. Within each store category, entrants are eligible to win these prizes:
• 1st place – $1,500 • 2nd place – $1,000 • 3rd place – $750 • 4th place – $500 • 5th place – $250 • Honorable Mention – $100 (100 selected from remaining entries)
The Category Manager Match Program will award equivalent prizes to corporate category managers for stores that qualify for a 1st through 5th place prize or the sweepstakes trip to the Bahamas.
