Carolina terminal and farmers markets bright outlook

carolinas

The South Carolina State Farmers Market sells a full line of fresh fruit and vegetables to both wholesale and retail customers. Produce available there includes beets, citrus, greens, onions, strawberries, squash, and sweet potatoes.

In North Carolina, agriculture is the largest economic driver, said Ronnie Best, market manager at the Raleigh Farmers Market in North Carolina.

“Three million people a year pass through our market to buy our plants, flowers, tomatoes, peaches, strawberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, potatoes, squash, cucumbers, and peppers.”

Raleigh’s market has gained so much traffic a new street is being added to help alleviate congestion, and another building is under construction to accommodate vendors, scheduled for completion this fall.

All the terminal markets in North and South Carolina are run by their respective states, and all are open to the public.
