Less than a year after closing nearly 100 underperforming stores amid bankruptcy restructuring, Jacksonville, FL-based Southeastern Grocers announced more store closures.
Joe Caldwell, senior manager of corporate communications said in a statement the stores are underperforming and will close on or before March 25.
“We do not take these decisions lightly, and only make this tough choice after careful consideration of its impact on our associates and our customers has been made,” he said, in a statement.
Southeastern Grocers announced it had filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy March 27.
The retailer emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy restructuring at the end of May with 575 stores.
At the time, Southeastern Grocers said it had completed 28 of 100 planned remodels for 2018. It has since opened more than 20 stores under then Fresco y Mas banner.
The 22 stores slated for closure include 13 BI-LO, 7 Winn-Dixie and 2 Harveys. No Fresco y Màs stores are closing.
