The lawsuit was filed in Tarrant County, Texas on behalf of Lisa Rodriguez and Jose Gonzales who purchased, prepared, and consumed food containing the contaminated onions.

Of 505 people with information available, 157 (31%) have been hospitalized.

The recalled onions are past their typical shelf life, and none of them have tested positive for Salmonella.

The onions were distributed in 25lb/50lb mesh sacks. They contain a label that is marked as MVP (product of MX), but were processed at Keeler Family Farms. The last to ship was on August 25, 2021.

The products have been sold in Ontario and Quebec and may have been distributed in other provinces and territories.

FDA’s traceback investigation is ongoing but has identified ProSource Produce, LLC of Hailey, Idaho, and Keeler Family Farms of Deming, New Mexico, as suppliers of potentially contaminated whole, fresh onions imported from the State of Chihuahua, Mexico.

To date, this outbreak has been associated with 652 illness, 129 hospitalizations and no deaths in 37 states. FDA’s traceback investigation is ongoing but has identified ProSource Inc. (also known as ProSource Produce, LLC) of Hailey, Idaho as a source of potentially contaminated whole, fresh onions imported from the State of Chihuahua, Mexico.

BrightFarms today initiated a voluntary recall expansion of additional packaged salad greens that are past expiration date and were produced in its Rochelle, Illinois (Ogle County) greenhouse farm sold in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana and Michigan due to potential contamination with Salmonella.

Interview data and shopper card records show that seven people ate or bought multiple types of BrightFarms brand salad products before they got sick, including Sunny Crunch, 50/50 Spring & Spinach, Harvest Crunch, and Butter Crisp.
