The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has released a report on its investigation of the Salmonella Typhimurium outbreak that caused 31 reported illnesses and four hospitalizations in the U.S. between June and August 2021.

The FDA and CDC, in collaboration with state and local partners, investigated illnesses in a multistate outbreak of E. coli O157:H7. As of January 6, 2022, CDC declared this outbreak over.

Six people ate Simple Truth Organic Power Greens, and one sick person ate Nature’s Basket Organic Power Greens. Investigators are working to determine if additional products may be contaminated.

Dole Fresh Vegetables announced on 22 December 2021 a product recall for Salads processed at its Bessemer City, NC and Yuma facilities due to a possible health risk from Listeria monocytogenes.

The U.S. FDA is working to investigate a multistate outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections associated with the consumption of packaged salad.

Upon further investigation, PHAC and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), have determined that fresh avocados are not the source of the outbreak and have confirmed frozen corn products as the source.

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) is collaborating with provincial public health partners, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Health Canada to investigate an outbreak of Salmonella infections involving five provinces: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. The illnesses reported in Ontario were related to travel to Alberta and British Columbia.

Epidemiologic and laboratory data show that Josie’s Organics prepackaged baby spinach with a “best by” date of October 23, 2021, may be contaminated with E. coli and may be making people sick.
