GrubMarket announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Hunts Point, New York-based Mendez International, a multi-generation family-owned wholesale distribution business based in New York's iconic Hunts Point Produce Market.

The improvements are part of a COVID-19 economic recovery plan, with $100 million earmarked for infrastructure projects at the produce market and another $40 million for city projects in nearby neighborhoods.

After a week on strike, Hunts Point produce handlers are back on the job.  

Workers are demanding a $1/hour pay raise and 60 cents/hour to maintain their heath care benefits, according to the Teamsters.
