Dollar General’s week-long recruiting efforts include opportunities for external candidates to join one of America’s fastest-growing retailers in a number of business operations

Who would want to buy produce from a deep discounter like Dollar General, which offers only a small assortment of the most common fruits and vegetables?

This week, the U.S. Conference of Mayors highlighted Dollar General’s role in helping to increase fresh produce and access to healthier food in Baton Rouge in its newly-released 2020 Best Practices Report.

Dollar General announced today its commitment to join the Consortium to Reinvent the Retail Bag as its Value Sector Lead Partner.

Goodlettsville, TN-based Dollar General continues to ramp up fresh produce offerings in its stores, as the company opened its 17,000th store in the U.S.  During the company’s third quarter earnings report on Dec. 3, executives said stores with fresh produce also passed another milestone.  

A grand opening celebration for the new store located in Cathlamet is expected to be announced at a later date.

Successes with adding more fresh produce and perishables are pushing the company to accelerate plans to add more fresh produce and expand the DG Fresh self-distribution initiative.

Dollar General’s staggering footprint of 16,000 stores is getting even bigger in 2020. The company plans to add 1,000, remodel 1,500 and relocate 80 stores next year, with continued enhancements for fresh foods.
