The grape season in Peru and cherry season in Chile had their shipments interrupted due to demonstrations by different transport sectors of both countries in protest against the rise in fuel costs.

Shipments of fresh Peruvian blueberries to the U.S. exceeded $772 million from January to September 2022, a 30.2 percent increase (representing of 53.1 percent of shipments) when compared to the same period last year.

According to the National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat), from January to November 6 (up to week 45) Peru’s fresh asparagus exports reached 96,083,525 kilos.

The 2022/2023 table grape season has just begun, and shipments are already above projected estimates, said Inform@ccion president Fernando Cilloniz Benavidez.

Chilean cherry exports to the U.S. are expected to repeat the dynamism of the previous season, while table grapes and blueberries are expected to decrease around 7 percent in volume.

Mexico, the Netherlands, and Peru lead the world ranking of the world’s top avocado exporters of 2021 (measured by value).

Peruvian agricultural exports totaled $6.8 billion between January and September of this year, reflecting an increase of 19 percent compared to last year.

This Chilean export season could be “very good for everyone” thanks to favorable weather, according to the Federation of Fruit Producers of Chile (Fedefruta).

Peru will continue to be the world’s main exporter of blueberries in 2022 for the fourth year in a row, as reported by Andina, based on projections by the Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex).
