IRVINGTON, NEW YORK (February 24, 2025) — Leader in indoor-grown greens, BrightFarms BB #:344991, is evaluating new uses or sale of select existing greenhouses.
In line with its rapid growth trajectory, the company has announced that operations at its Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania facility will be suspended in March of this year. This decision follows a significant expansion phase marked by the opening of three larger state-of-the-art greenhouses in 2024, located in Yorkville, Illinois; Lorena, Texas; and Macon, Georgia.
“As the market demand for indoor-grown greens continues to rapidly grow, our larger and more efficient farms will continue to serve our customers with the strong quality and consistency we are known for,” said Abby Prior, Chief Commercial Officer of BrightFarms. “While we focus on the future, we are deeply grateful for our dedicated Selinsgrove team and will continue to support them through this transition. We’re collaborating with local career services and will be hosting an on-site job fair with local employers in early March to help open new doors.”
BrightFarms’ newly launched network of farms creates North America’s largest system of semi-closed salad greenhouses, equipped with best-in-class climate control and quality systems. This highly efficient capacity increases production by 4x and will be the foundation for continued growth for the leading indoor grower.
In addition to the Selinsgrove facility, BrightFarms plans to suspend operations at its Rochelle, Illinois and Hendersonville, North Carolina greenhouses later this year. BrightFarms remains equipped for growth through its expansive network and will continue to meet the growth needs of retailer partners.
