From January to August 2024, Peruvian exports of fresh blueberries totaled $545.9 million (for 72,000 tons), showing a growth of 41.5 percent in value compared to the $385.7 million reported in the same months of the previous year, according to the Association of Exporters (Adex).
In the first eight months of this year, fresh blueberries from Peru reached 48 markets, with the U.S. being the main destination, accounting for 59.8 percent of the total, with purchases of $326.2 million, showing an increase of 74 percent compared to the $187.4 million reached in the same period of 2023.
The Netherlands followed with $84.9 million, Hong Kong with $37.9 million, China with $29.4 million, and the United Kingdom with $29 million. Other markets were Brazil, Thailand, Taiwan, Spain and Colombia.
The largest exporting companies were Camposol, Hortifruit Peru, Agrovision Peru, Exportadora Frutícola del Sur, Blueberries Peru, Agrícola Cerro Prieto, Aqu Anqa II, Complejo Agroindustrial Beta, Hass Peru, and Larama Berries.
In that period this year, the main exporting region of fresh blueberries in Peru was La Libertad with shipments of $316.1 million, representing 57.9 percent of the total. It was followed by Lambayeque, Ica, Ancash, Lima, Piura, Moquegua and Arequipa.
