Oishii expands distribution with berries at East Coast farmers markets

JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY – July 17, 2024 – Today, vertical farming leader Oishii announced they are bringing their coveted Omakase and Koyo berries to local farmers markets across the Mid-Atlantic region this summer.

From July 21 through September 1, strawberry lovers will be able to celebrate the peak of summer with the refreshing tastes of The Omakase Berry – known for its delicate sweetness, aroma, and creamy texture – and The Koyo Berry – known for its rich red hue, bursting sweetness, and balanced acidity. 

“Oishii’s mission has always been to grow delicious produce that’s better for people and the planet. We’re honored to be a part of these vibrant local food communities and are excited that this summer they’ll see us pop up in a new setting,” said Rita Hudetz, Chief Commercial Officer of Oishii.“Oishii may be the future of farming, but we are still a farm. Grown in Oishii’s state-of-the-art indoor vertical farms, Oishii’s produce is grown pesticide-free, bears the non-GMO Project Verified seal, are always in season, and always delicious. A tray of Omakase berries sells for $11.99 and a tray of Koyo berries sells for $9.99.

The summertime expansion comes off the heels of momentous growth for the company. In February 2024, Oishii closed $134 million in Series B funding, and in June 2024, Oishii opened the doors to their third and largest indoor vertical farm in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, Amatelas Farm.

The new farm, which serves as the primary production facility for Oishii’s Koyo strawberries, spans more than 237,500 square feet, runs on renewable energy, and grows more than 20 times the number of berries than earlier generation farms thanks to advanced AI and robotics.
