In the 2022-23 campaign, Peruvian fresh onion exports reached 151,000 tons, showing an increase of 23 percent (30,000 tons more) compared to the previous campaign, the president of the Inform@ccion consultancy, Fernando Cillóniz Benavides, told Agraria.
Cillóniz described the 2022-2023 campaign as a “campañón” or “grand campaign,” highlighting the production of the central coast and Arequipa.
He said the peak of the campaign that has just ended was registered in December where 25,761,471 kilos were dispatched, compared to last season, when the peak of shipments was reached in November with 17,633,813 kilos were exported.
The main destinations for fresh onion from Peru are the United States, Spain, and Colombia, among others.
