According to the Peruvian Association of Mango Producers and Exporters (APEM), up until week 50 (December 11) Peru exported 43,724 tons of fresh mangos by sea, reflecting an increase of 19 percent compared to the 36,646 tons shipped during the same period the previous campaign, as reported by Agraria.
Juan Carlos Rivera Ortega, manager of APEM, stressed that this volume shipped in the current campaign is the highest recorded compared to any other campaign. He added that in week 50 alone, 17,752 tons of fresh mangos were shipped by sea.
In regards to via air, up until week 50 there were 4,223 tons of mangos shipped. While by land, up until week 50 there were 1,035 tons shipped.
APEM projects that 254,000 tons of fresh mangos will be exported during this campaign.
