September 15, 2022 – Washington, D.C. and Newark, De. – International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA) BB #:378962 continues to release details of The Washington Conference to take place in Washington D.C. from September 26-28 and have announced that in addition to speakers and meetings with congresspeople, IFPA will host a Joy of Fresh activation at the Eastern Market on Capitol Hill.
From noon to 7 pm, IFPA and the Joy of Fresh will take over the Eastern Market on Capitol Hill (located at 225 Seventh Street, SE). The event will be open to IFPA Washington Conference attendees but will also invite DC influencers including key congressional and administrative staff, and consumer advocates to take part in the Joy of Fresh event.
“Everywhere we bring the industry directly to our consumers and partners is an opportunity to celebrate the Joy of Fresh,” said IFPA Chief Public Policy Officer, Robert Guenther. “The Joy of Fresh is that bright, flavorful, nutritious, delightful, and surprising experience fresh in your day that you can find in produce and floral. When you consider the critical nature of the advocacy work being done by our members at the Washington Conference, it’s a clear opportunity to also share that story with our consumers and DC influencers.”
The Eastern Market is at the heart of the Capitol Hill community, where visitors flow through the space from Tuesday to Sunday to attend the South Hall Market with a variety of merchants. On weekends, the market expands to include live music and more.
On September 27, IFPA will take over the market with both indoor and outdoor spaces to share Fall Harvest produce items, flower braiding, and other interactive produce and floral programming. Starting at 4:30, IFPA will host the Joy of Fresh Happy Hour, inviting those in the Capitol Hill neighborhood to join us in the market and its North Hall for a cocktail and an opportunity to learn more about the commitments the industry is making to create a vibrant future for all.
The full schedule, including the details about the Joy of Fresh event are found on the website where attendees can also register.
About the International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA)
The International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA)?is the largest and most diverse international association serving the entire fresh produce and floral supply chain and the only to seamlessly integrate world-facing advocacy and industry-facing support. We exist to bring the industry together to create a vibrant future for all. We grow our member’s prosperity by conducting advocacy; connecting people and ideas; and offering guidance that allows us all to?take action?with purpose and confidence.? While IFPA is built on the legacy of United Fresh and Produce Marketing Association, it is not just a combination. It is transformational. Recognizing the industry required an even more powerful and unified voice, the leaders of the former United Fresh and Produce Marketing Association chose not to merge, but rather to create an entirely new organization to supersede their organizations, effective January 1, 2022.
