Fortune Growers, Mexican Government partner to help small growers

fortune growers agro oferta

Fortune Growers BB #:192013 is a vertically integrated international company, which grows its produce in Mexico. It currently has a network of 52 independent producers who are financed, trained and supported to export their products to the North American market.

Likewise, Fortune Growers leverages its processes in cutting-edge technology that allows to increase productivity in the field of its network of farmers, seeking to become a best practice reference in the agricultural sector.

Another example of the leverage in technology is the participation in the Agro-Oferta initiative that SIAP (Servicio de Información Agroalimentaria y Pesquera) is promoting. Agro-Oferta is a mobile application that connects supply and demand in agricultural products, bringing small and medium-sized farmers closer to large companies that will buy and export their product.

The SIAP-Fortune Growers pilot project will seek to grow the network of small and medium farmers in Mexico. The farmers who participate, with the portfolio of target crops in this pilot test, will receive training, financing and other support from Fortune Growers to make this initiative a success.

Another initiative that is still under discussion and definition is the alliance with Mexican public universities, through the Secretary of Agriculture, and Fortune Growers.

It seeks to create a network of support and training with Agronomists and Food Engineers, accompanying Mexican farmers who are part of the network on site. It will create a virtuous circle that creates spaces for more specialized people to integrate in greater numbers and help boost the sector.

Likewise, Fortune Growers is working closely with SENASICA (Servicio Nacional de Sanidad, Inocuidad y Calidad) to simplify the transport and export of fresh Mexican produce to the tables of the North American consumer (Farm-to-Fork).

Following up on these efforts, the recognition of SENASICA and its quality assurance processes will be sought within the American regulatory framework: USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), FDA (Food and Drug Administration).

In the following months, we will work closely with these initiatives in order to achieve results that promote changes that continue strengthening the agricultural sector.

“The key component of everything we do at Fortune Growers is not only to deliver quality product to the consumer, but to also revitalize, modernize, and support our small and medium sized growers in Mexico. We want to help families thrive economically and help them stay together. The Mexican government, through the Office of the Secretary of Agriculture is collaborating with companies like Fortune Growers, who serve as a model for agricultural modernization, to create successful programs and align with the highest powers of the United States. We are using technology, artificial intelligence, and predictive models to achieve higher efficiencies and reach our social and environmental objectives.” -Luis Solarte, CEO Fortune Growers

“We believe Agro-Oferta is an excellent way to help farmers get exposure to the global market. We would also be strengthening the agriculture sector by using the app: it would allow us to have greater traceability as to how the market is moving and how product demand is changing over time.” -Patricia Ornelas, Director of SIAP

“One of our biggest technological and innovative proposals is the consolidation of the AgroLogistics Intelligence Network, which would include a Consolidation Center, Rural Transformation Centers and an AgroPark – near the border with the United States. We want to create an environment where the vast majority of the agriculture sector’s needs can be satisfied. It would be an amazing booster for the community revolving around produce and agriculture.” -Javier Delgado, Director FIRCO

“Many small and medium sized growers, even in the U.S., lack the access to resources that allow them to sell their products into international markets. This program, headed by Fortune Growers and supported by the Mexican Secretary of Agriculture’s office, will get trainings, audits, market information and so much more into the hands of these small producers. At the same time, it will train these growers on both the food safety systems of the US and Mexico, which is incredibly important in not only increasing best practices across the industry but also in building towards the harmonization of our food safety systems throughout North America.” -Dante Galeazzi, CEO Texas International Produce Association)
