Florida-grown vegetable price rise could go through winter holidays

The tropical storm that hit Florida last week and damaged crops could have lasting effects on vegetable markets.

“We see prices continuing to be elevated through Thanksgiving and Christmas,” said Mark Campbell, CEO and co-founder of ProduceIQ BB #:368175.

Campbell joined Blue Book’s Greg Johnson for some market analysis, expanding on the company’s weekly price report.

Campbell said green beans, squash and cucumbers will be the vegetables hardest hit, since the storm damaged the Homestead, FL, area the most, but bell peppers, which are grown further north, seems to have escaped heavy losses.
